Arts Gen Studio, Footscray Community Arts
Saturday 4th March, 1pm – 3pm
𝑰 𝒇𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒎𝒚 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒔 is a collection of texts centring Filipino authors and curated by Saluhan Collective for SHELF – a community library and learning site that supports re-gathering of communities in partnership with Arts Gen. Inspired by a quote from the classic novel 𝘕𝘰𝘭𝘪 𝘔𝘦 𝘛𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘦 (Touch Me Not) by author José Rizal, 𝑰 𝒇𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒎𝒚 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒔 imagines texts as a form of collective conscience and expression central to the revolutionary thinking of Rizal in articulating Filipino identity. Through a process of co-curation, the library catalogue has been guided by voices from Saluhan’s community and is reflective of current and historical Filipino/x art, culture, literature, theory, and design. In the spirit of backyard pinoy parties, Saluhan will be serving all your fave snacks and hosting a series of indoor and outdoor games for all ages! Established in 2019, Saluhan Collective was created to establish a network between creatives in Australia and the Philippines and has since expanded to include collaborative projects in arts and community development.
